THE TEN MILLION NAIRA QUESTION… you owe me,lol.

It’s Saturday. You wake up and it’s 11am… You
are heading to the kitchen to make a cup of coffee.

You have only one and a half days to rest before
returning to school on Monday. But you are
happy because it’s finally Saturday. You have
one and a half day of relaxation before another
Tiring and exhausting week so you take
your coffee and sit on your matress.
You turn on the laptop and watch some movies,
then you order bread with beans(just like me,lol)from the
local fast food and start scrolling your Facebook
timeline as you eat and watch movie.
The afternoon you go to a colleagues house to
watch football and chat about the girls in your faculty. You come
back home and go to sleep.
This scenario is repeated on Sunday with a
minor change. Then it’s Monday again… aww, you
have to wake up at 5am, go to a place that you
hate and spend half of your day there.

But What’s Your Purpose?
If you felt that the above story relates to you
then you lack purpose in your life. You hate
what you do but you continue the same way of
living even if it’s destroying your soul day after
day.

So why do you keep doing it?

• Because of obligation.
You have a family to feed and no other way to
make ends meet. You need to work at a
disgusting job that makes you sick of yourself.

• Because you are afraid to follow your own
dreams .
You can’t stand the criticism of taking your own
path in life. So you force yourself to take a
predetermined road that others set up for you.
You follow the path that society tells you that
you have to follow if you want to be respectable
and successful.
You see other people acting the same way,
following the same path and you assume that
it’s acceptable as long as other people do it as.
They might now something right? However you
still can’t understand why you wake up feeling
sick of yourself.

• Maybe because you don’t even know what
you want.
How would it be possible to know what path is
right for you before you even passed your
twenties? Even if you feel that you know what
you want you fall into the second trap and give
it up because of fear.
Then you don’t have a fucking clue about what
you should do. So what’s the best option?
The option which guarantees the most
money. You sell your soul to the devil in
exchange for a huge paycheck. No, money is not
evil but you arbitrarily assume that more money
will make you look more “cool”.
Unfortunately, you end up being more miserable.

THE 10 MILLON NAIRA QUESTION YOU SHOULD KNOW !!

Before I tell you the 10 million naira question
you have to understand why it’s important to
have a mission in your life.
Without a mission, you are a nobody. You have
no reason to improve yourself
because you simply exist . You just walk your life
like a robot which doesn’t take its own
decisions. A robot programmed to act in a
certain way.
If you are breathing it doesn’t mean that you
are really alive. You have to discover your
purpose if you want to give your life a
meaning.

Ask yourself: Is that really what I want in my
life?
No, it’s not that question. The answer in the
question above could be a disgusting lie to
yourself.
But let me ask you something else.
Forget your financial insecurities. Let’s assume
that you have 10 million naira in the bank.

What would you do then?
Check out some possible options:
• You would spend the next year in a beach in banana island.
• You would buy a new house, car and fulfill your
materialistic needs.
• You would do nothing for a year except
sleeping, spending and partying.
• All the above.

But what would come after that? What would
you do after an extended period of rest,
partying, shopping and traveling?

You might think that you could never get bored
if you had all these riches. That’s a lie. You
would get bored, 100%.
Why do you think so many rich people are
miserable? Most of these rich miserable people
are the ones who have inherited their huge
fortunes.
They don’t have a purpose, just paper to spend.
When you don’t have a purpose you feel empty.
Sure, it might be fan for a while but after 1-2
years (or less) you would get sick of your own
life. You would feel the same misery with an
average man working on an average job even if
you have all these riches.
The fact is that almost everything like going to
school, college or working is done because we
want to make money.
As a result, we get compromised with doing
things we don’t love. Things that make us sick,
like working on a soul-crushing job or trying to
get a degree in a field that we aren’t even
interested in.
But you do it because you have to survive. You
give up on your dreams because you have to
survive and make ends meet.
But what would you do if you didn’t care about
money at all? What would you do if you had 10
millions in the bank?
Beyond spending, sleeping and partying you would
have to find something that could fulfill you. You
would find your passion and you could have all
the money you need to support you to fully
commit to your dream.
You would be FREE to live your life and follow
your passion.
What would you do if you had 10 million in the
bank? If you never had to care about money
anymore?
Would you do X? Then X is what you HAVE to do
in your life if you want to be truly happy.
X is your life’s purpose!
Only when you remove the money insecurity,
you can truly listen to your heart. You can
discover your mission, what really matters for
you.
If you are not sure about the path you are
following in your life then ask yourself: “would I
follow the same path if I had 10 millions in the
bank?”
If the answer is YES then keep doing what you
are doing. Otherwise stop it right now or you
will regret it in the future. Repressed emotions
will be too much for you to handle, they will beat
you to the ground.
Stop what you are doing right now, no matter
the consequences, and start following X.
Because X is your purpose, X is your mission.
Without X you will never be completely fulfilled.
You will never be free, you will be just another
cog in the system’s wheel, a robot programmed
to wake up the same time every day doing
nothing more than simply existing.

This article might seem harsh and nailing but, once in a while; we should be sincere to one another…
MANY OF US ARE VICTIMS!!

Babbs cares.

MAKE A DIFFERENCE

Make a Difference
We are all gifted with a unique set of skills
and abilities. With those abilities we can
make extra-ordinary things happen in the
world around us, or not.
It is completely up to you whether you want
your life to make a difference and what
difference you want your life to make.
Many people set lofty goals for their lives and
want to be remembered as visionaries, they
want to change and save the world.
Others want to be remembered as the kind
man or women down the street who always
helped and always listened if you needed
help.
Who do you think is the better person?
The one who changes the world or the one
who saves the individual?
Do what not have to do incredible things; just
being there for the people around you can
save someone from a meaningless life and
help them lead the life they were meant to
live.
Small things matter
Changing the life of another person is an
incredible feeling and it is completely within
your grasp. You can do this by deciding to
become a mentor for a young ambitious
person. You can help them avoid the mistakes
you have made and help them learn from the
ones they will inevitably make themselves.
Fight for someone’s rights
You will often see someone get treated
unfairly. It happens both professionally and
socially, individuals who deserve recognition
do not get it.
By taking up the fight and making sure others
get what they deserve and earned you will be
a true hero. You will make a lasting impact on
their lives and you will be rewarded with love
and help in the future when you are in need.
The law of karma says that whatever you do
you will get back three fold, helping others is
therefore a selfish act, but still a good act, one
that you should do without fear, with love and
with the knowledge that you will one day be
rewarded.
Go the distance
Compromise is the enemy of long term
commitment, if you have committed to helping
someone by being their mentor or by fighting
for their rights, doesn’t stop half way. Go the
distance and see it through. Make sure
something happens so all your work doesn’t
end up as only talk.
Conclusion
In truth we might all be here to help each
other, we might all be a part of a machine
that fosters cooperation, or were not. We
might just be here to make the best of the
situation for ourselves.
In any case, helping others brings happiness
and prosperity into your own life, so for
whatever reason you chose to help others, it
will always help you in return.
The difference between stopping half way and
finishing isn’t much in terms of the work you
put in, but worlds apart in the difference for
the individual you are helping.

Pal, DON’T BE AFRAID TO MAKE MISTAKES

PAL, DON’T BE AFRAID TO MAKE MISTAKES…..

Mistakes are not meant for animals, they are actually meant to make MAN…. Oluwafemi Babbs.

“If you are not happy with your life or whatever happens in it, discipline your disappointments; it is not external but a result of our internal way we view, believe, and do things in the world.”

Timages-7

The choices we make determine the quality of our lives, and whatever is happening in our lives, we use it to succeed or to fail, either it is good or bad, and it is mostly determined by our attitude.

Everything is mental; everything is a personal choice and a total responsibility of each one of us. Our attitude is the reason to do the necessary changes or the reason to blame others for our poor performances, for our mistakes or for our ignorance in certain topics.

At the end, the quality of our lives is up to each one of us. The formula is simple and factual: When we choose to focus in negativity it is what we attract, and when we choose to focus in positivity it is what we attract. It is time to be honest with ourselves; nobody can make us miserable or happy, successful of failures but our attitude – the positive or negative way we choose to view the world.

The moment we take responsibility for our life, our life will definitely change. Take action now; there is no such thing as the perfect time or right moment.

Choose to be happy, nothing is more important than feeling good. Life is too short – VERY, VERY SHORT. Don’t let the opportunities and blessings of life fly from your hands.

Memorable Quotes by Dr. Benjamin Carson

ben_carson
Success is determined not by whether or not you face obstacles,
but by your reaction to them. And if you look at these obstacles
as a containing fence, they become your excuse for failure. If
you look at them as a hurdle, each one strengthens you for the
next.

“ Happiness doesn’t result from what we get, but from what we
give.

“ Do your best and let God do the rest.

“ Successful people don’t have fewer problems. They have
determined that nothing will stop them from going forward.

“ Everyone in the world worth being nice to. Because God never
creates inferior human beings, each person deserves respect and
dignity.

“ God has given us more than fourteen billion cells and
connections in our brain. Why would God give us such a
complex organ system unless he expects us to use it?

“ If you hear how wonderful you are often enough, you begin to
believe it, no matter how you try to resist it.

“ To THINK BIG and to use our talents doesn’t mean we won’t
have difficulties along the way. We will–we all do. If we choose
to see the obstacles in our path as barriers, we stop trying. “We
can’t win,” we moan. “They won’t let us win.

“ Tell the truth. If you tell the truth all the time you don’t have to
worry three months down the line about what you said three
months earlier. Truth is always the truth. You won’t have to
complicate your life by trying to cover up.

“ If we acknowledge our need for God, he will help us.

“ When I treat other people with kindness and love, it is part of my
way of paying my debt to God and the world for the privilege of
living on this planet.

“ Here is the treasure chest of the world – the public library, or a
bookstore.

“ It does not matter where we come from or what we look like. If
we recognize our abilities, are willing to learn and to use what
we know in helping others, we will always have a place in the
world.

“ If we recognize our talents and use them appropriately, and
choose a field that uses those talents, we will rise to the top of
our field.

“ Knowledge is the key that unlocks all the doors. You can be
green-skinned with yellow polka dots and come from Mars, but
if you have knowledge that people need instead of beating you,
they’ll beat a path to your door.

“ We get out of life what we put into it. The way we treat others is
the way we ourselves get treated.“ Anyone who can’t learn from other people’s mistakes simply
can’t learn, and that;s all there is to it. There is value in the
wrong way of doing things. The knowledge gained from errors
contributes to our knowledge base.

“ God cares about every area of our lives, and God wants us to ask
for help.

“ First, we cannot overload the human brain. This divinely created
brain has fourteen billion cells. If used to the maximum, this
human computer inside our heads could contain all the
knowledge of humanity from the beginning of the world to the
present and still have room left over. Second, not only can we
not overload our brain – we also know that our brain retains
everything. I often use saying that “The brain acquires
everything that we encounter.” The difficulty does not come with
the input of information, but getting it out. Sometimes we “file”
information randomly of little importance, and it confuses us.

“ Reading activates and exercises the mind.
Reading forces the mind to discriminate. From the beginning,
readers have to recognize letters printed on the page, make them
into words, the words into sentences, and the sentences into
concepts.
Reading pushes us to use our imagination and makes us more
creatively inclined.

“ If we commit ourselves to reading thus increasing our
knowledge, only God limits how far we can go in this world.

“ I have to come to realize that God does not want to punish us,
but rather, to fulfill our lives. God created us, loves us and wants
to help us to realize our potential so that we can be useful to
others.

“ The doors of the world are opened to people who can read.

“ …I became acutely aware of an unusual ability–a divine gift, I
believe–of extraordinary eye and hand coordination. It’s my
belief that God gives us all gifts, special abilities that we have
the privilege of developing to help us serve Him and humanity.
And the gift of eye and hand coordination has been an invaluable
asset in writing. This gift goes beyond eye-hand coordination,
encompassing the ability to understand physical relationships, to
think in three dimensions. Good writers must understand the
consequences of each article, for they’re often not able to see
what’s happening to see on the other side of the area in which
the area they’re actually working.

“ I am convinced that knowledge is power – to overcome the past,
to change our own situations, to fight new obstacles, to make
better decisions.

“ If we would spend on education half the amount of money that
we currently lavish on sports and entertainment, we could
provide complete and free education for every student in this
country.

“ If we make every attempt to increase out knowledge in order to
use it for human good, it will make a difference in us and in our
world.

“ People are simply not willing to look at their problems honestly
and admit that they have problems.

“ When we are confronted by failure and mistakes, we can leave
them behind and go on with our lives.

“ I’m a good neurosugeon. That’s not a boast but a way of
acknowledging the innate ability God has given to me.
Beginning with determination and using my gifted hands, I went
on for training and sharpening for my skills.
“ …the brain can process two million bits of information per
second. It remembers everything you’ve ever seen, everything
you’ve ever heard…“ Being a doctor at Johns Hopkins does not make me any better in
God’s sight than the individual who has not had the opportunity
to gain such an education but who still works hard.

“ If we develop in-depth knowledge it will enable us to give our
best to others and help to make a better world.

“ An important verity about knowledge is that the brain works
most effectively with consciously retained information. We
more easily remember what we want to recall later. When we
feed our fourteen billion brain cells with information that will
enrich us and help others, we are really learning to Think Big.
Maybe that is the best lesson I learned in my first semester at
Yale, because if I had gone to a less-demanding school and
continued to sail along on the top, I am sure I would never have
attained the subsequent achievements in my life.

“ If I speak in the tongues of men and of angles, but am note nice,
I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the
gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge,
and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but am not nice, I
am nothing. If I give all I posses to the poor and surrender my
body to the flames, but am not nice, I gain nothing.

“ One dark night the skeletons that they had carefully hidden in an
obscure closet appeared, grabbed them around the throat, and
strangled them.

“ We did live in dire poverty. And one of the things that I hated
was poverty. Some people hate spiders. Some people hate
snakes. I hated poverty. I couldn’t stand it. My mother couldn’t
stand the fact that we were doing poorly in school, and she
prayed and she asked God to give her wisdom. What could she
do to get her young sons to understand the importance of
developing their minds so that they control their own lives? God
gave her the wisdom. At least in her opinion. My brother and I
didn’t think it was that wise. Turn off the TV, let us watch only
two or three TV programs during the week. And with all that
spare time read two books a piece from the Detroit Public
Libraries and submit to her written book reports, which she
couldn’t read but we didn’t know that. I just hated this. My
friends were out having a good time. Her friends would criticize
her. My mother didn’t care. But after a while I actually began to
enjoy reading those books. Because we were very poor, but
between the covers of those books I could go anywhere. I could
be anybody. I could do anything. I began to read about people of
great accomplishment. And as I read those stories, I began to see
a connecting thread. I began to see that the person who has the
most to do with you, and what happens to you in life, is you. You
make decisions. You decide how much energy you want to put
behind that decision. And I came to understand that I had control
of my own destiny. And at that point I didn’t hate poverty
anymore, because I knew it was only temporary. I knew I could
change that. It was incredibly liberating for me. Made all the
difference.

“ There is no such thing as an average human being. If you have a
normal brain, you are superior.“ I came to realize that if people could make me angry they could
could control me. Why should I give someone else such power
over my life?

“ It’s not what you do but that kind of job you do that makes the
difference.

“ By reading so much, my vocabulary automatically improved
along with my comprehension.

“ the doors of the world are open to dose who can read.

“ Before GOD,no god,after him,there will be no GOD.

“ The insidious nature of socialism, cloaked in a façade of
compassion, makes it very dangerous to an uneducated and
trusting populace. And as socialism creates dependency, it is
well on its way to eliminating freedom of choice and incentives
for high productivity and innovation.

“ Since Americans are by nature individualistic and
entrepreneurial, by definition, then, the socialist program is anti-
American, to say nothing of totalitarian. Socialism is an old
dream. Some dreams are nightmares when put into practice.

“ Beware the abuse of Power. Both by those we disagree with, as
well as those we may agree with

“ Disagreement is part of being a person who has choices. One of
those choices is to respect others and engage in intelligent
conversation about differences of opinion without becoming
enemies, eventually allowing us to move forward to
compromise.

“ There is no freedom without bravery.

“ If Americans simply choose to vote for the person who has a D
or an R by their name, we will get what we deserve, which is
what we have now.

“ One reason I didn’t hold any grudges or harsh feelings toward
Dad must have been that my mother seldom blamed him—at
least not to us or in our hearing. I can hardly think of a time
when she spoke against him.

“ No one ever said, “This isn’t the way normal people live.”
Again, I think it was the sense of family unity, strengthened by
the Averys, that kept me from being too concerned about the
quality of our life in Boston

“ Compassion, however, should mean providing a mechanism to
escape poverty rather than simply maintaining people in an
impoverished state by supplying handouts. By doing this we give
them an opportunity to elevate their personal situations, which
eventually decreases our need to take care of them and
empowers them to be able to exercise compassion toward others.

“ While wisdom dictates the need for education, education does
not necessarily make one wise.

“ Our founders did not believe that our society could thrive
without this kind of moral social structure. In fact, it was our
second president, John Adams, who said of our thoroughly
researched and developed governing document, “Our
Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It
is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.“ Because if you don’t accept excuses, pretty soon people stop
giving them, and they start looking for solutions. And that is a
critical issue when it comes to success.

“ close the wounds, and the 22-hour surgical ordeal was over. The

“ I practiced in Australia for one year as a neurosurgeon, and my
malpractice premiums were only $200 a year at that time.
Compare this with the $300,000 malpractice insurance fee
assessed on a litigation-free neurosurgeon in Philadelphia today.

“ When the vision of the U.S. government included guarding the
rights of people but staying out of their way, America was an
economic engine more powerful than anything the world had
ever witnessed.Sometimes one has to be humble enough to start at the bottom
with a minimum-wage job even if you have a college degree.
Once you get your foot in the door, you can prove your worth
and rapidly move up the ladder. If you never get in the door, it is
unlikely that you will rise to the top.

“ Wisdom is essentially the same thing as common sense, the
slight difference is that common sense provides the ability to
react appropriately, while wisdom is frequently more proactive
and additionally encourages the shaping of the environment.

“ The human brain has billions of neurons and hundreds of billions
of interconnections. It can process more than two million bits of
information per second and can remember everything you have
ever seen or heard.

“ If we are to put an end to division, people from all political
persuasions will have to stop fighting one another and seek true
unity, not just a consensus that benefits one party.

“ to do only if you don’t have a good argument. This is also a good
way to keep people at one another’s throats constantly so they
can’t form a united front and deal logically with the many real
issues facing the nation. Individually, Americans need to choose
to be the bigger person, overlook offense, and be willing to have
candid discussions about volatile issues. There have been many
stories recently about the bullying epidemic that seems to be
occurring in our public school system. We should not be terribly
surprised by this because children emulate what they see adults
doing. One does not have to look at television for very long or
listen to the radio for an extended period before one sees
supposedly

“ Saul Alinsky advised his followers to level sharp attacks against
their opponents with the goal of goading them into rash
counterattacks that would then discredit them. To avoid falling
into this trap, those of us who are interested in civil discussion
should prepare ourselves to refrain from reacting in fear or anger
to those who disagree with us or even attack us

“ walk by the fence and completely ignore the dog. It took about a
month before the dog realized that I would not react, but
eventually he stopped trying to frighten me and would simply lie
down quietly as I walked by. Today’s political correctness
operates in the same way as that dog. Self-appointed political
correctness

“ Every person is endowed with God-given abilities, and we must
cultivate every ounce of talent we have in order to maintain our
pinnacle position in the world.

“ Over the course of time many Americans have forgotten that “we
the people” are actually at the top of the food chain as far as
authority is concerned in this nation. The Republicans don’t run
our nation. The Democrats don’t run our nation. We do.
However, by dividing and engaging in political squabbles, we
have allowed the government to grow so large and powerful that
it has now become the boss, progressively taking charge of all of
our lives.“ Many well-meaning Americans have bought into the PC speech
code, thinking that by being extra careful not to offend anyone
we will achieve unity. What they fail to realize is that this is a
false unity that prevents us from talking about important issues
and is a Far Left strategy to paralyze us while they change our
nation. People have been led to become so sensitive that fault
can be found in almost anything anyone says because
somewhere, somehow, someone will be offended by it.

“ If most of the people in the country believe that America is
generally fair and decent, it becomes more difficult for Saul
Alinsky types to recruit change agents and for those on the Far
Left to undermine our Constitution. Hence the constant bad-
mouthing of our nation to impressionable young people,
preparing them to be ripe for manipulation at the appropriate
time.

“ We all have choices in the way we react to the words we hear.
Our lives and the lives of all those around us will be
significantly improved if we choose to react positively rather
than negatively.

“ What will maintain the pinnacle position of our nation in the
world: the ability to shoot a 25-foot jump shot, or the ability to
solve a quadratic equation?

EXCEEDING THE LIMIT

IMG_20141123_033716

Good morning wonderful readers, hope you all slept well?

This week has been a very hectic one for me, especially at school..Monday was filled with practicals and blames, Tuesday was filled with practicals and assignments, Wednesday was like a thug of war at the Congress and almost got injured after involving in a minor motorcycle accident,Thursday was a bit free even though my shoe got damaged right in front of the Faculty gate and today….Gods knows.

What i want to share with us today is my burden for we youths and it is already taking over us all, it is getting into power. You know what it is? THE LIMITING MENTALITY .It is so sad that we all exhibit the limiting mentality, we seem to always give up after few trials, we tend to assume that we cannot be stretched beyong our limits. Most of us are meant to be great, we were meant to achieve our dreams beyond limit, but yet, upon this assurance by GOD, we still fear the seen and unseen challenges or trials we face. You can never be great unless you have been tested and trusted, except you have passed through the furnance of life.

It isnt going to be smooth or free, i tell you….. it will be rough with different pot holes on our way to success, we shouldnt expect lasting success to come so easy to us, we must work for it with our sweats. Passing through difficulties and challenges does not mean we are sinners or GOD has forsaken us, life is a battle field and therefore we have to fight it and win, even the Mighty general of a nation can get injured and it doesnt mean he is weak, It only means he has attracted a strong opposing general, Friends,we have to exceed the limit, we need to break the limiting mentality.

It sounds easy saying it right? Lol

But the truth is, we can do more than this in life “ a little baby doesnt walk until he starts to crawl, then hold objects to move around, holding the mother to walk around, walk alone with little stamina and falls and then the baby finally becomes a very young boy who can walk, fall, rise, jump and do all sort” thats it… The kid exceeded the baby limit of crawling. Giving it a trial is cool, never give up because the devil always makes sure people gives up at the last minute to greatness. The thin line between success and failure is giving up.

WE ARE ALL VICTIMS,BUT IT IS NOT TOO LATE

N.B : I am not asking you to overwork yourself or start jumping around aimlessly, Purpose comes first, why do i have to exceed this limit?
We need GOD, the ultimate source of help.
I cannot but pour out my pain…i believe we can do it better than it is presently, Just a liitle more push and then we set it rolling.

It isnt easy but it is the truth we all have to embrace.
Enjoy your day, Unlimited Generation…

Derek Redmond said “NO” to the Stretcher !

Full name: Derek Anthony Redmond
Date of birth: September 3, 1965 (age 49)

Derek Anthony Redmond is a retired British athlete.

During his career, he held the British
record for the 400 metres sprint, and won gold medals in
the 4×400 metres relay at the World Championships,
European Championships and Commonwealth Games.
However, his career was blighted by a series of injuries. At
the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona he tore his hamstring
in the 400 metres semi-final but continued the race limping
and, with assistance from his father, managed to complete a
full lap of the track as the crowd gave him a standing
ovation. The incident has become a well-remembered
moment in Olympic history, having been the subject of one
of the International Olympic Committee’s ‘Celebrate
Humanity’ videos and been used in advertisements by Visa
as an illustration of the Olympic spirit and featured in Nike’s
“Courage” commercials in 2008.

Athletics career
Redmond first broke the British record for the 400 meters in
1985 with a run of 44.82 seconds. This record was
subsequently broken by Roger Black, but Redmond
reclaimed the record in 1987 with a run of 44.50 seconds.
The record lasted until 1992.
In 1986, Redmond was a member of teams that won the
4×400 metres relay gold medal at both the European
Championships and Commonwealth Games. The following
year, he was on the team that won the 4×400 metres relay
silver medal at the World Championships.
At the 1991 World Championships Redmond was a member
of the British team that shocked the athletics world by
beating the much-favoured American team into second
place to claim the gold medal in the 4×400 metres relay.
Redmond ran the second leg in the final and, together with
team-mates Roger Black and others ran
what was then the second-fastest 4×400 metres relay in
history.
Injuries consistently interrupted Redmond’s career. At the
1988 Olympics in Seoul, he pulled out of the opening round
of the 400 metres 90 seconds before his heat was due
because of an injury to his achilles. Before the 1992 Summer
Olympics, he had undergone eight operations due to
injuries.

1992 Summer Olympics

However, he was in good form by the time of the Barcelona
Olympics. He posted the fastest time of the first round, and
went on to win his quarter-final. In the semi-final, Redmond
started well, but in the back straight about 250 metres from
the finish, his hamstring snapped. He hobbled to a halt, and
then fell to the ground in pain. Stretcher bearers made their
way over to him, but Redmond decided he wanted to finish
the race. He began to hobble along the track. He was soon
joined on the track by his father, Jim Redmond, who barged
past security and on to the track to get to his son. Jim and
Derek completed the lap of the track together, with Derek
leaning on his father’s shoulder for support. As they crossed
the finish line, the crowd of 65,000 spectators rose to give
Derek a standing ovation. However, as his father had helped
him finish, Derek was officially disqualified and Olympic
records state that he “Did Not Finish” the race.
Redmond’s struggle in the 1992 semi-final later became the
subject of one of the International Olympic Committee’s
‘Celebrate Humanity’ videos, which proclaimed “Force is
measured in kilograms. Speed is measured in seconds.
Courage? You can’t measure courage”. In 2008, Redmond
was featured in the “Go World” series of Visa advertisements
promoting the Olympic Games. The advertisement highlights
his 1992 injury, noting that “he and his father finished dead
last, but he and his father finished”, narrated by actor
Morgan Freeman.
On January 10, 2012, it was announced that his father Jim
would be one of the Olympic torch bearers in London for
the Summer Games

Retirement
Two years after the Olympics in Barcelona, he was told by a
surgeon that he would never run again or represent his
country in sport. However, after coming to terms with the
loss of athletics as a career, he began to turn his attention,
with the encouragement of his father, to other sports that he
enjoyed. After trials at several basketball clubs, he secured a
place on the Great Britain national basketball team. He sent
a signed photo of the team to the surgeon who had assured
him he would never represent his country in sport again.
After playing basketball professionally, he turned his
attention to rugby, another of his favorite sports and
managed to reach division 1 with the intention of
representing Great Britain professionally in three different
disciplines of sport.

YOU STILL STAND A CHANCE, try once more ….

Good afternoon Readers, it’s been a while I posted here..
I have been abit busy with school and some other side attractions but my mind is always here because this is my little way of contributing to my society.

My article for today was born out of a curious mind, a mind that believed in GOD + HOPE !! And that should be our believes also…. Our HOPe with GOD will take us high even if we have to face enough challenges that would wreck us and bend us…… I believe in No one except GOD !!

Quote for the day :The Solution of Nigeria is not from ASO~ROCK but from YOU and I ! #Ready for a CHaNge ! #rapid #abrupt. CHAnGe !!! #BLASt !

Oops !! That was a powerful side attraction!! Back to my article for today !!
Sit back, scroll through and read in between the Lines, the treasure you seek for might be in between the Lines….

YOU STILL STAND A CHANCE, just try once more !!

My fear : A lot of youths have labelled themselves as “FAILURES” without even trying once more even when GOD already predestined your success story !!

Failure is not a stigma…. Quitting without trying once more is the “SHAME”

Here is a story for you (sent to me by one of my readers), it might not be enough to convince you but atleast it will prove to you that you shouldn’t stop trying, try just one more time!!

Eniola Graduated from Secondary at the age of 16(2007) with the Hope of gaining admission into the higher institution of Learning, even though without a fixed profession but she was sure of gaining admission due to her brilliancy.. Eniola wrote the west African Examination and after the release of the result, brilliant eniola passed all her subjects except for Mathematics … Eniola thought it happened because it was her first trial, Eniola never knew she would be a trial story of failure for years.
Eniola wrote the Waec GCE for that year, the Result was not released…. *a year. Gone* … The Next year Eniola enrolled at a secondary school Far from her home to avoid shame, She read and did her best to pass the Exam, paid for answers during the exam, but all to no avail after the result was released, she failed Mathematics…(2008)
Note: Eniola was not a weak mathematics student, infact her secondary school examination results were evidence to prove.
Her Parents were already bothered , so they decided to enrol her in a coaching class expecting a positive result during the upcoming waec Gce(2008), she tried her best , even her tutors approved her ability to score high in mathematics, But the shocking news was that after the Exam;Eniola’s result was not released. *sad* isn’t it? Her friends were already in their second year at their various institutions , some even mocked her and made it clear to her that going to school might not be her predestined way of survival in life, Eniola faced humiliation at Home, church and in the neighbourhood.. Her Parents forced her to Learn handy works (tailoring) which she learnt for over two Years( late 2008 – early 2011). Eniola was never ready to loose courage and determination of being a university Graduate, after her freedom from the tailoring work; Eniola secured O’level tutorial teachers with her earnings from the first few months in the tailoring industry to take her the core Subjects she needs for Her Waec Gce by September 2011… She also secured a Jamb form which led to uproars amidst her family members
Her mum went against her foolish idea of aiming at admission even when o’level isn’t secured,
Her siblings frustrated her with instances of impossiblilty thinking they were advising her,
Her friends warned her to avoid wasting her money when she knows mathematics is her Limit,
But her Father had believe in her, not because he paid for her enrolment but because he was proud of her Courage !!

Determined Eniola Prepared for the examinations against all Odds, against discouragement from friends and families… She chose Pharmacy for her first and second choice at University of Lagos, wrote the Jamb examinations and had 268 (thank God Mathematics was not required as one of her four courses), She was so Happy, she went for the Post Jamb exam and scored an appreciable mark that earned her an admission into the University to study Pharmacy….. But yet No one believed she would Pass Her O”level courses to proceed for her admission registrations @ UNILAG… September 2011, Eniola Wrote the Waec GCe examination with fear but coined with GOD and Hope… Friends prayed(even though they were against her) but yet Her HOPE never wavered nor diminished …. LATE december, few days before christmas( Dec.25), the Examination result was released ; Eniola could not check the result cuz she had almost Lost courage, not as if she doubted God but she is a weak human who was scared of the future…..
Fortunately Dec. 29, Eniola went to Check her result and behold her Mathematics result was shocking!!! She had B3 in Mathematics, A Young lady who once Had f9, f9, cancelled result,f9 … Had to wait for over two years and yet could have B3 without anyone’s help or assistance….
Presently, Eniola is a 400level pharmacy student of Unilag… She knew she still has the Chance and she tried once more before quitting

Readers, I know most of you might have passed through something more than this and yet you are not yet where you ought or wish to be…. You still stand a chance, try once more before quitting….. Your Hope in GOD and your determinations goes a long way in helping you….

#i Love you for you Courage !!
# stand up tight and defeat your fear !!

HE Believed in Himself… … Henry Ford

Here is another man whom I respect a lot for His courage and determination in Himself! He knew he could do what no one could imagine, and he became a Success story !

ford-pic1 Henry ford with has first car.

FORD’S EARLY YEARS:

The oldest of six children, Henry Ford was born on July 30, 1863, on a
prosperous farm near Dearborn, Michigan.
He attended school until the age of fifteen, at which time he developed a dislike of farm life and a
fascination for machinery. He had little interest in school and was a poor
student. He never learned to spell or to read well. Ford would write using
only the simplest of sentences. He instead preferred to work with
mechanical objects, particularly watches. He repaired his first watch when
he was thirteen years old, and would continue to repair watches for
enjoyment throughout his life. Although he did not like working on the
farm, he did learn that there was great value in working hard and being
responsible..
Ford’s father wanted him to be a farmer and offered him forty acres of
timberland, provided he give up machinery. Ford accepted the proposal,
then built a first-class machinist’s workshop on the property. His father
was disappointed, but Ford did use the two years on the farm to win a
bride, Clara Bryant.

FORD’S FRIST CAR:
Ford began to spend more and more time in Detroit working for the
Edison Illuminating Company, which later became the Detroit Edison
Company. By 1891 he had left the farm permanently. Four years later he
became chief engineer. While at the Edison Illuminating Company he met
Thomas A. Edison (1847–1931), who eventually became one of his closest
friends.
Ford devoted his spare time to building an automobile with an internal
combustion engine, a type of engine in which a combination of fuel and
air is burned inside of the engine to produce mechanical energy to perform
useful work. His first car, finished in 1896, followed the attempts, some
successful, of many other innovators. His was a small car driven by a two-
cylinder, four-cycle motor and by far the lightest (500 pounds) of the early
American vehicles. The car was mounted on bicycle wheels and had no
reverse gear.
In 1899 the Detroit Edison Company forced Ford to choose between
automobiles and his job. Ford chose cars and that year formed the Detroit
Automobile Company, which collapsed after he disagreed with his
financial backers. His next venture was the unsuccessful Henry Ford
Automobile Company. Ford did gain some status through the building of
racing cars, which resulted in the “999,” driven by the famous Barney
Oldfield (1878–1946).

FORDS FIRST COMPANY:

By this time Ford had conceived the idea of a low-priced car for the
masses, but this notion flew in the face of popular thought, which
considered cars as only for the rich. After the “999” victories, Alex Y.
Malcomson, a Detroit coal dealer, offered to aid Ford in a new company.

Ford also defeated the Selden patent (the legal rights given to a company
or person for the sole use, sale, or production of an item for a limited
period of time), which had been granted on a “road engine” in 1895.
Rather than challenge the patent’s legal soundness, manufacturers secured
a license to produce engines. When Ford was denied such a license, he
fought back; after eight years of legal action, the courts decided the patent
was valid but not violated. The case gave the Ford Company valuable
publicity, with Ford cast as the underdog, but by the time the issue was
settled, the situation had been reversed.
New principles
In 1909 Ford made the important decision to manufacture only one type of
car—the Model T, or the ” Tin Lizzie.” By now he firmly controlled the
company, having bought out Malcomson. The Model T was durable, easy
to operate, and economical; it sold for $850 and came in one color—black.
Within four years Ford was producing over forty thousand cars per year.

Henry Ford.

In the early 1920s the company continued its rapid growth, at one point
producing 60 percent of the total United States output. But problems
began to arise. Ford was an inflexible man and continued to rely on the
Model T, even as public tastes shifted. By the middle of the decade Ford
had lost his dominant position to the General Motors (GM) company. He
finally saw his error and in 1927 stopped production of the Model T.
However, since the new Model A was not produced for eighteen months,
there was a good deal of unemployment among Ford workers. The new car
still did not permanently overtake the GM competition, Chevrolet, and
Ford remained second.

FINAL YEARS

Ford’s last years were frustrating. He never accepted the changes brought
about by the Great Depression (a period in the 1930s marked by severe
economic hardship) and the 1930s New Deal, President Franklin D.
Roosevelt’s (1882–1945) plan to help the United States recover from the
Great Depression. He fell under the spell of Harry Bennett, a notorious
figure with connections to organized crime, who, as head of Ford’s
security department, influenced every phase of company operations and
created friction between Ford and his son Edsel. For various reasons Ford,
alone in his industry, refused to cooperate with the National Recovery
Administration, a 1930s government agency that prepared and oversaw
codes of fair competition for businesses and industries. He did not like
labor unions, refused to recognize the United Automobile Workers
(UAW), and brutally restricted their attempts to organize the workers of
his company.
Ford engaged in some philanthropic or charitable activity, such as the
Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. The original purpose of the Ford
Foundation, established in 1936 and now one of the world’s largest
foundations, was to avoid estate taxes. Ford’s greatest philanthropic
accomplishment was the Ford Museum and Greenfield Village in
Dearborn, Michigan.
A stroke in 1938 slowed Ford, but he did not trust Edsel and so continued
to exercise control of his company. During World War II (1939–45; a war
fought between the Axis: Germany, Italy, and Japan—and the Allies:
England, France, the Soviet Union, and the United States), Ford at first
made pacifist, or peace-minded, statements, but changed his mind and
contributed greatly to the war effort. Ford’s grandson, Henry Ford II, took
over the company after the war. Henry Ford died on April 7, 1947, in
Dearborn.

use it for human good, it will make a difference in us and in our
world.

How to Be Successful in Life

Regardless of how old you are, where you live,
or what your career goals are, everybody’s
ultimate goal in life is to be happy and
successful. Read this article to learn how to
achieve success in both your external life (i.e.
your circumstances) and internal life (i.e.
emotional well being).

Identify your passions:
Before you can
achieve success, you will have to define
what success means to you. While it may
take years to realize what you want to do
with your life, identifying your passions,
interests, and values will help you set goals
and give your life a sense of meaning.

Ask yourself the following questions:

What do you want your legacy to be?
How would you like to be remembered by
others?
How do you want to make your community
a better place?
What are your subjects of interest?

Make a list of your goals, and what you
might do to achieve them . Be sure to
address both short-term and long-term
goals; try to think beyond financial/career
goals.

Consider which subjects you enjoyed
studying in school, and why.
This can help give you an idea of what you may be best
at or more interested in.
Live purposefully. In order to achieve your
dreams and be the person you want to be.
You will have to start paying attention to
your actions.
Ask yourself,
is what I’m doing going to lead me to where I want to
be in life?

If you find yourself constantly bored,
daydreaming about the future or past or
counting down the minutes until the day
ends, it is probably because you feel
disconnected from what you’re doing.
Consider changing careers or majors to a
field that you care about but remember
that it could mean changes you are not
thinking of. Does that job pay enough to
support yourself? Is it something you
might get bored of eventually? Do I
really want to commit to that job?
Cherish your time. Try to spend your
free time doing things that you enjoy
doing, rather than wasting time. For
example, rather than spending your
weekends watching television, spend
them partaking in your hobbies or
spending time with loved ones.
Remember that the concept of “wasted
time” is relative. Not everything you do
has to be productive in the conventional
sense, but it should be engaging and
enjoyable.

Be educated.
Education gives you the
knowledge, skills, and credibility to
achieve your maximum potential. In terms
of financial success, statistics have shown
that the more education you have (i.e. the
higher degree you achieve), the more
money you are likely to make.
Not all education has to be formal.
Apprenticeships and long-term training
programs are also positively correlated
with higher incomes.

Manage your finances.
Learning how to manage your money will help ensure your
financial stability over time, regardless of
your income.

Keep track of your expenses.
Review your bank statements often and notice
where you spend your money. If you do
your banking online, be sure to keep
personal records as well. This will help
you prevent over-spending and ensure
that your bank statements are correct.

Understand your income.
When calculating your income, be sure to take
into account the federal, state, and social
security taxes that will be deducted from
your gross pay. The resulting number is
your net pay, which is what you end up
taking home with you.

Prioritize spending.
Your first priority should be spending money on basic
necessities like food, shelter, and
clothing. Don’t spend money on luxuries
like expensive clothes, cars, or vacations
until you have first satisfied your basic
necessities. Be honest with yourself and
differentiate between your basic needs
and your luxuries.

Save money.
Every month, you should deposit some of your money into a
savings account. Consider asking your
employer to directly deposit a portion of
your income into your savings account.

Manage your time.
Putting off important tasks until the last minute can cause you
unnecessary stress, and increases the
likelihood of errors. Manage your time so
that you have enough time to complete a
task effectively.
Use a paper or electronic planner to help
keep you organized throughout the day,
week, and month.
Make a list of all the things you need to
do in a given day, and check off each
task as you complete it. This will help you
stay organized and motivated.

Achieve Internal Success
Enjoy the present moment. If you are
constantly dwelling on the past or
daydreaming about the future, you are
missing out on the present moment.
Remember that the past and the future are
simply illusions, and that real life takes
place here and now.
Start paying attention to negative
thoughts so that you can learn to silence
them and enjoy the present moment. If a
negative thought arises in your head,
then acknowledge it, label it a negative
thought, and then let it fade away.

Don’t compare your own life to other
peoples’ lives . Unfortunately, many people
measure their own success by comparing it
to the success of those around them. If
you want to feel accomplished and happy,
you will have to stop comparing your life to
other peoples’ lives.
Many people have the tendency to
compare the low points of their own lives
with the high points of other peoples’
lives. Remember that no matter how
perfect somebody’s life may seem,
behind closed doors everybody deals
with tragedy, insecurity, and other
difficulties.

Count your blessings.
No matter how much
you achieve in life, you will always feel
unhappy if you constantly focus on what
you don’t have. Instead, devote time every
day to appreciating the things you do have.
Think beyond material items; appreciate
your loved ones, and remember happy
memories.

Look after your health.
A healthy body
supports a healthy mind. Eat a balanced
diet and ensure that you aren’t lacking in
any necessary nutrients. Establish the
cause of any problems you may experience,
such as a lack of energy or a lack of
concentration and deal with them by
discussing with a doctor, nutritionist and
related health professionals. Get plenty of
exercise too but align it with what you love
to do rather than what you feel you have
to do but dislike.

Keep yourself inspired by anything that
inspires you: music, photography, fashion etc.
Nothing else ignites a flame in you but a great
source of inspiration.
