Top Time Waster (TTW)

It’s MARCH!! My month…. I am happy…. HAPPY CELEBRATION TO ALL MARCH BORN!

*lets get to business for the day*
I was at a retreat organized by the youths of my diocese and the guest speaker who happens to be our Provost emphasized on a thoughtful and powerful statement.

He said ” The youths of this generation, the time we spend watching the television , if it continues at that rate; nobody will watch you in life”

It is indeed sad that the media is the ultimate time waster of this generation, we have ignored the fact that we need to also work hard to be seen on the television someday. Many of the great men we see on the television were busy working, reading, innovating and inventing while their mates were having fun and enjoying their lives. THe media has invented alot of fascinating and mind thrilling programmes which has become gods to mosyA youths in our dear nation. Africa magic has changed the mind and dreams of alot of people who are not self controlled.
images
Those behind the social media are working hard in their duties to entertain people, that is their passion , they worked hard to get there… have you ever thought of that? WASTING HOURS WITH THE TELEVISION IS DEFINITELY A HUGE WASTE OF TIME WHEN THERE ARE MORE IMPORTANT AND RELEVANT THINGS TO BE DONE AT THAT MOMENT.
I dare not criticze the media, that is their duty and vision…it is a great thing cuz they could entertain us to satisfaction, and that is because they have worked harder to know the wants of the society but then, as a young guy/lady; the television should not be our priority, we’ve gat mpre than enough to get busy with.

Stop dumping time into the television bin.

Stop dumping time into the television bin.

REST, IF YOU MUST BUT DON’T BE LAZY…

The hope of this great nation should not be upon T.V freaks but upon those who are willing to be distinct and control d urge of time wasting.

Watch the television if you must but put self control into action..remember, each second you waste counts and each hour wasted will always be accounted for; Later in the nearest future.

You can't regain the lost time

You can’t regain the lost time

Just imagine;
If wole Soyinka was like you, would you even hear about him today?

If Pastor Enoch Adeboye was like you, would you know him today?

If Fela Durotoye was a tv freak like you, would he have been a top public speaker today?

If Dr. Benjamin carson had not been stopped by his mum from excessive watching of the television, I doubt if he would have been successful in life….

It is loud and clear to us….CAUTION!!

Memorable Quotes by Dr. Benjamin Carson

ben_carson
Success is determined not by whether or not you face obstacles,
but by your reaction to them. And if you look at these obstacles
as a containing fence, they become your excuse for failure. If
you look at them as a hurdle, each one strengthens you for the
next.

“ Happiness doesn’t result from what we get, but from what we
give.

“ Do your best and let God do the rest.

“ Successful people don’t have fewer problems. They have
determined that nothing will stop them from going forward.

“ Everyone in the world worth being nice to. Because God never
creates inferior human beings, each person deserves respect and
dignity.

“ God has given us more than fourteen billion cells and
connections in our brain. Why would God give us such a
complex organ system unless he expects us to use it?

“ If you hear how wonderful you are often enough, you begin to
believe it, no matter how you try to resist it.

“ To THINK BIG and to use our talents doesn’t mean we won’t
have difficulties along the way. We will–we all do. If we choose
to see the obstacles in our path as barriers, we stop trying. “We
can’t win,” we moan. “They won’t let us win.

“ Tell the truth. If you tell the truth all the time you don’t have to
worry three months down the line about what you said three
months earlier. Truth is always the truth. You won’t have to
complicate your life by trying to cover up.

“ If we acknowledge our need for God, he will help us.

“ When I treat other people with kindness and love, it is part of my
way of paying my debt to God and the world for the privilege of
living on this planet.

“ Here is the treasure chest of the world – the public library, or a
bookstore.

“ It does not matter where we come from or what we look like. If
we recognize our abilities, are willing to learn and to use what
we know in helping others, we will always have a place in the
world.

“ If we recognize our talents and use them appropriately, and
choose a field that uses those talents, we will rise to the top of
our field.

“ Knowledge is the key that unlocks all the doors. You can be
green-skinned with yellow polka dots and come from Mars, but
if you have knowledge that people need instead of beating you,
they’ll beat a path to your door.

“ We get out of life what we put into it. The way we treat others is
the way we ourselves get treated.“ Anyone who can’t learn from other people’s mistakes simply
can’t learn, and that;s all there is to it. There is value in the
wrong way of doing things. The knowledge gained from errors
contributes to our knowledge base.

“ God cares about every area of our lives, and God wants us to ask
for help.

“ First, we cannot overload the human brain. This divinely created
brain has fourteen billion cells. If used to the maximum, this
human computer inside our heads could contain all the
knowledge of humanity from the beginning of the world to the
present and still have room left over. Second, not only can we
not overload our brain – we also know that our brain retains
everything. I often use saying that “The brain acquires
everything that we encounter.” The difficulty does not come with
the input of information, but getting it out. Sometimes we “file”
information randomly of little importance, and it confuses us.

“ Reading activates and exercises the mind.
Reading forces the mind to discriminate. From the beginning,
readers have to recognize letters printed on the page, make them
into words, the words into sentences, and the sentences into
concepts.
Reading pushes us to use our imagination and makes us more
creatively inclined.

“ If we commit ourselves to reading thus increasing our
knowledge, only God limits how far we can go in this world.

“ I have to come to realize that God does not want to punish us,
but rather, to fulfill our lives. God created us, loves us and wants
to help us to realize our potential so that we can be useful to
others.

“ The doors of the world are opened to people who can read.

“ …I became acutely aware of an unusual ability–a divine gift, I
believe–of extraordinary eye and hand coordination. It’s my
belief that God gives us all gifts, special abilities that we have
the privilege of developing to help us serve Him and humanity.
And the gift of eye and hand coordination has been an invaluable
asset in writing. This gift goes beyond eye-hand coordination,
encompassing the ability to understand physical relationships, to
think in three dimensions. Good writers must understand the
consequences of each article, for they’re often not able to see
what’s happening to see on the other side of the area in which
the area they’re actually working.

“ I am convinced that knowledge is power – to overcome the past,
to change our own situations, to fight new obstacles, to make
better decisions.

“ If we would spend on education half the amount of money that
we currently lavish on sports and entertainment, we could
provide complete and free education for every student in this
country.

“ If we make every attempt to increase out knowledge in order to
use it for human good, it will make a difference in us and in our
world.

“ People are simply not willing to look at their problems honestly
and admit that they have problems.

“ When we are confronted by failure and mistakes, we can leave
them behind and go on with our lives.

“ I’m a good neurosugeon. That’s not a boast but a way of
acknowledging the innate ability God has given to me.
Beginning with determination and using my gifted hands, I went
on for training and sharpening for my skills.
“ …the brain can process two million bits of information per
second. It remembers everything you’ve ever seen, everything
you’ve ever heard…“ Being a doctor at Johns Hopkins does not make me any better in
God’s sight than the individual who has not had the opportunity
to gain such an education but who still works hard.

“ If we develop in-depth knowledge it will enable us to give our
best to others and help to make a better world.

“ An important verity about knowledge is that the brain works
most effectively with consciously retained information. We
more easily remember what we want to recall later. When we
feed our fourteen billion brain cells with information that will
enrich us and help others, we are really learning to Think Big.
Maybe that is the best lesson I learned in my first semester at
Yale, because if I had gone to a less-demanding school and
continued to sail along on the top, I am sure I would never have
attained the subsequent achievements in my life.

“ If I speak in the tongues of men and of angles, but am note nice,
I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the
gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge,
and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but am not nice, I
am nothing. If I give all I posses to the poor and surrender my
body to the flames, but am not nice, I gain nothing.

“ One dark night the skeletons that they had carefully hidden in an
obscure closet appeared, grabbed them around the throat, and
strangled them.

“ We did live in dire poverty. And one of the things that I hated
was poverty. Some people hate spiders. Some people hate
snakes. I hated poverty. I couldn’t stand it. My mother couldn’t
stand the fact that we were doing poorly in school, and she
prayed and she asked God to give her wisdom. What could she
do to get her young sons to understand the importance of
developing their minds so that they control their own lives? God
gave her the wisdom. At least in her opinion. My brother and I
didn’t think it was that wise. Turn off the TV, let us watch only
two or three TV programs during the week. And with all that
spare time read two books a piece from the Detroit Public
Libraries and submit to her written book reports, which she
couldn’t read but we didn’t know that. I just hated this. My
friends were out having a good time. Her friends would criticize
her. My mother didn’t care. But after a while I actually began to
enjoy reading those books. Because we were very poor, but
between the covers of those books I could go anywhere. I could
be anybody. I could do anything. I began to read about people of
great accomplishment. And as I read those stories, I began to see
a connecting thread. I began to see that the person who has the
most to do with you, and what happens to you in life, is you. You
make decisions. You decide how much energy you want to put
behind that decision. And I came to understand that I had control
of my own destiny. And at that point I didn’t hate poverty
anymore, because I knew it was only temporary. I knew I could
change that. It was incredibly liberating for me. Made all the
difference.

“ There is no such thing as an average human being. If you have a
normal brain, you are superior.“ I came to realize that if people could make me angry they could
could control me. Why should I give someone else such power
over my life?

“ It’s not what you do but that kind of job you do that makes the
difference.

“ By reading so much, my vocabulary automatically improved
along with my comprehension.

“ the doors of the world are open to dose who can read.

“ Before GOD,no god,after him,there will be no GOD.

“ The insidious nature of socialism, cloaked in a façade of
compassion, makes it very dangerous to an uneducated and
trusting populace. And as socialism creates dependency, it is
well on its way to eliminating freedom of choice and incentives
for high productivity and innovation.

“ Since Americans are by nature individualistic and
entrepreneurial, by definition, then, the socialist program is anti-
American, to say nothing of totalitarian. Socialism is an old
dream. Some dreams are nightmares when put into practice.

“ Beware the abuse of Power. Both by those we disagree with, as
well as those we may agree with

“ Disagreement is part of being a person who has choices. One of
those choices is to respect others and engage in intelligent
conversation about differences of opinion without becoming
enemies, eventually allowing us to move forward to
compromise.

“ There is no freedom without bravery.

“ If Americans simply choose to vote for the person who has a D
or an R by their name, we will get what we deserve, which is
what we have now.

“ One reason I didn’t hold any grudges or harsh feelings toward
Dad must have been that my mother seldom blamed him—at
least not to us or in our hearing. I can hardly think of a time
when she spoke against him.

“ No one ever said, “This isn’t the way normal people live.”
Again, I think it was the sense of family unity, strengthened by
the Averys, that kept me from being too concerned about the
quality of our life in Boston

“ Compassion, however, should mean providing a mechanism to
escape poverty rather than simply maintaining people in an
impoverished state by supplying handouts. By doing this we give
them an opportunity to elevate their personal situations, which
eventually decreases our need to take care of them and
empowers them to be able to exercise compassion toward others.

“ While wisdom dictates the need for education, education does
not necessarily make one wise.

“ Our founders did not believe that our society could thrive
without this kind of moral social structure. In fact, it was our
second president, John Adams, who said of our thoroughly
researched and developed governing document, “Our
Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It
is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.“ Because if you don’t accept excuses, pretty soon people stop
giving them, and they start looking for solutions. And that is a
critical issue when it comes to success.

“ close the wounds, and the 22-hour surgical ordeal was over. The
Siamese

“ I knew

“ I practiced in Australia for one year as a neurosurgeon, and my
malpractice premiums were only $200 a year at that time.
Compare this with the $300,000 malpractice insurance fee
assessed on a litigation-free neurosurgeon in Philadelphia today.

“ When the vision of the U.S. government included guarding the
rights of people but staying out of their way, America was an
economic engine more powerful than anything the world had
ever witnessed.Sometimes one has to be humble enough to start at the bottom
with a minimum-wage job even if you have a college degree.
Once you get your foot in the door, you can prove your worth
and rapidly move up the ladder. If you never get in the door, it is
unlikely that you will rise to the top.

“ Wisdom is essentially the same thing as common sense, the
slight difference is that common sense provides the ability to
react appropriately, while wisdom is frequently more proactive
and additionally encourages the shaping of the environment.

“ The human brain has billions of neurons and hundreds of billions
of interconnections. It can process more than two million bits of
information per second and can remember everything you have
ever seen or heard.

“ If we are to put an end to division, people from all political
persuasions will have to stop fighting one another and seek true
unity, not just a consensus that benefits one party.

“ to do only if you don’t have a good argument. This is also a good
way to keep people at one another’s throats constantly so they
can’t form a united front and deal logically with the many real
issues facing the nation. Individually, Americans need to choose
to be the bigger person, overlook offense, and be willing to have
candid discussions about volatile issues. There have been many
stories recently about the bullying epidemic that seems to be
occurring in our public school system. We should not be terribly
surprised by this because children emulate what they see adults
doing. One does not have to look at television for very long or
listen to the radio for an extended period before one sees
supposedly

“ Saul Alinsky advised his followers to level sharp attacks against
their opponents with the goal of goading them into rash
counterattacks that would then discredit them. To avoid falling
into this trap, those of us who are interested in civil discussion
should prepare ourselves to refrain from reacting in fear or anger
to those who disagree with us or even attack us

“ walk by the fence and completely ignore the dog. It took about a
month before the dog realized that I would not react, but
eventually he stopped trying to frighten me and would simply lie
down quietly as I walked by. Today’s political correctness
operates in the same way as that dog. Self-appointed political
correctness

“ Every person is endowed with God-given abilities, and we must
cultivate every ounce of talent we have in order to maintain our
pinnacle position in the world.

“ Over the course of time many Americans have forgotten that “we
the people” are actually at the top of the food chain as far as
authority is concerned in this nation. The Republicans don’t run
our nation. The Democrats don’t run our nation. We do.
However, by dividing and engaging in political squabbles, we
have allowed the government to grow so large and powerful that
it has now become the boss, progressively taking charge of all of
our lives.“ Many well-meaning Americans have bought into the PC speech
code, thinking that by being extra careful not to offend anyone
we will achieve unity. What they fail to realize is that this is a
false unity that prevents us from talking about important issues
and is a Far Left strategy to paralyze us while they change our
nation. People have been led to become so sensitive that fault
can be found in almost anything anyone says because
somewhere, somehow, someone will be offended by it.

“ If most of the people in the country believe that America is
generally fair and decent, it becomes more difficult for Saul
Alinsky types to recruit change agents and for those on the Far
Left to undermine our Constitution. Hence the constant bad-
mouthing of our nation to impressionable young people,
preparing them to be ripe for manipulation at the appropriate
time.

“ We all have choices in the way we react to the words we hear.
Our lives and the lives of all those around us will be
significantly improved if we choose to react positively rather
than negatively.

“ What will maintain the pinnacle position of our nation in the
world: the ability to shoot a 25-foot jump shot, or the ability to
solve a quadratic equation?

THOUGHT ABOUT QUITTING THEN I NOTICED WHO WAS WATCHING

download
Thought about quiting …… then I noticed who was watching..

I got this attractive title from an edited picture on the social network..and then something struck my mind….why don’t you write something little about this?

MOST great men quit without even considering that young guy afar off who is watching them… In whatever we do in life, learn to always consider those who might be looking up to you.
Don’t quit because you feel like,
Don’t quit because it is about you…..

Jesus didn’t quit because he knew his disciples were watching his steps.

Abraham Lincoln, after 30 years of failure…yet he didn’t quit because he knew his determination would be a source of motivation to the world.

Benjamin Carson, even with a very hunble beginning, raised by a single mother and struggled to get to the top….yet he didn’t quit because he knew People like me would look up to him, read his books and watch his lifestyle.

Wherever you are,
Whatever poat you occupy,
Whatever that is being entrusted in your care…. always remember, before you quit… someone is busy watching …don’t make them feel limited because you decided to be limited….

Never Quit, when you quit..surely you have affected a life negatively.

I almost quit writing because I thought no one knows me, I felt I was just sowing in the air but later I realized I was sowing into fertile lives..

Someone is always watching you….who is watching?

Discover the REAL YOU !!

Discover The Real You

Introduction
Who are you and why are you here? It may seem like a straightforward question. Most would
answer by giving their name without giving it much thought. However, on deeper reflection, do you really understand who you are?
Our world today has one great irony that is mind-boggling: the majority of people in the world are trying very hard to conform to what someone else wants them to be. It is often so subtle that we fail to realise that is what we are doing.
As Sarah McLachlan points out:
“We’re constantly being told what other people think we are, and that’s why it is so important to know yourself.”

It happens at many levels. For instance, television bombards us with images of how we should look and dress, what we should eat and drink, what car we should drive and even what kind of person we should marry. Some even go as far as telling us how to fall in love!
We look around us for things that will help us define who we are. In-fact the majority of people have no sense of identity apart from the clothes they wear, the car they drive, where they live, who they are married to and so on.
If we had to strip you of everything you own and leave you on some island away from everything you think defines you,
Would you still have a clear sense of who you are?
What defines you?

DISCOVER the real you –
Some would think of themselves in terms of their body. The image of their face and body defines who they are. If we were to remove you from your body, would you still know who you are? It sounds weird, I know, but understand that man is a spirit; he lives in a body and has a soul. Your body is simply a means of expressing
yourself and interacting with your physical environment.
So your body is not really who you are. At the core of it, you are more than that. In-fact that is why it is so hard for people to fully understand and appreciate who they are. Who you are cannot be seen, touched, smelt, heard or tasted. Your senses cannot tell you who you are. The concept of self in the true form is something beyond the grasp of our physical bodies and senses. We are complex beings. We cannot be defined by the things
around us, but by the things within us. I believe that in essence we are what we think. Physically as human beings we are all essentially the same.

It is our thoughts and experiences that differentiate us.

DISCOVER the real you – your true identity
Our true identity, then, lies within us, not outside of us. We should define who we are based on our thoughts, our values, principles and beliefs. It’s okay to have material things and all, but they should not be our sense of self. They are just things that are there to make our lives
easier. If you were suddenly homeless today that would not change who you are as a person. You would still be you. What is the importance of all this, you might ask?

Ralph Waldo Emerson warns that “The greatest difficulty is that men do not think enough of themselves, do not consider what it is that they are sacrificing when they follow in a herd, or when they cater for their
establishment.”

So you are sacrificing something when you go through life blindly conforming to everything. You sacrifice your true potential and purpose, which you can only fulfill when you truly understand yourself.

Discover the real you – THE ANSWER LIES WITHIN
Look within yourself, not without. For everything begins and ends with your thoughts.

Sidney J. Harris adds that “Ninety percent of the world’s
woe comes from people not knowing themselves,
their abilities, their frailties, and even their real
virtues. Most of us go almost all the way through
life as complete strangers to ourselves.”

It may seem like an overstatement, but it is so. Many lack an understanding of who they are, without which they are unable to know what they care capable of achieving in life. In the days of slavery in Europe and America this was well understood. Black people were forced to change their names to Western names so they would not remember who they really were.
Furthermore, they were banned from knowing how to read or write. That should make the lights flash in someone’s head. The reason this was done was that their masters knew that if they knew how to read they would discover many things, not only about the world around them, but about themselves. Their minds would be
stretched to new levels of understanding.

THE road to self discovery
Reading is a powerful means of discovering who
you really are. If you read the right books and other material you will gain a deeper understanding of others as well as yourself. Unfortunately, there are many who are in a self- imposed prison of ignorance even today. The books are all around them. They just don’t want
to read. The culture of reading is not well established in many Zambians. For such people

Atwood H. Townsend has some timely advice:
“No matter how busy you may think you are, you must find time for reading, or surrender yourself to self-chosen ignorance.”

CONclusion
Choose not to live in ignorance about who you are and what you can do. Decide today to discover more about yourself and to start on the journey of self discovery.

My best recommendation –
read your Bible. Without it, you may never know who you really are.
In the words of James Allen, “Only by much searching and mining are gold and diamonds obtained, and man can find every truth connected with his being if he will dig deep into the mine of his soul.”

You are all you can be. Go on and be it.

Thinking POsItiVe

ben_carson. The Power of Positive Thinking

Positive thinking is a mental attitude that admits into the mind thoughts, words and images that are conductive to growth, expansion and success. It is a mental attitude that expects good and favorable results. A positive mind anticipates happiness, joy, health and a successful outcome of every situation and action. Whatever the mind expects, it finds.
Many have heard it said that another person cannot make you happy. The happiness will come from within you. Being confident is a choice and it will produce positive emotions. There has been much research done on being in a positive state. It will produce a sense of well-being and has even proven to have multiple health benefits. Successful living today being positive will change your life. The way that someone feels about themselves shows in the way they act. They always find funny things in everyday life that makes them and others happy. There is joy and cheerfulness that just rubs off on the people who are around them. The way they feel shows in their life because they are more relaxed and sleep better at night. They are not only physically assured but mentally as well. Most people have a spiritual connection that gives them the confident mindset in life. People who have a confident mindset take full advantage of their work force. They go in everyday with a smile on their face
and the confidence that they have the ability to handle anything
that comes their way. Their ability to take responsibility and not
to blame others when something goes wrong shows that they
have a handle on life. Negative emotions have no place with
them on their way to success.
Confidence is so much better than looking back and thinking of
what could have been. Confident people are ones that you want
to be around because they make the most of the present and
look forward to the future. They are in awe of the beauty of
nature and good things around them.
This behavior comes from choosing the atmosphere that one is
around. It is best to surround yourself with assured people that
are upbeat and thinking good thoughts. Try to avoid negative
news and thinking on unpleasant things. This will be to your
advantage in building the blocks in your life of thinking of
good wholesome thoughts.
Positive and negative thinking are both
contagious.
All of us affect, in one way or another, the people we meet. This
happens instinctively and on a subconscious level, through
thoughts and feelings transference, and through body language.
People sense our aura and are affected by our thoughts, and vice
versa. Is it any wonder that we want to be around positive
people and avoid negative ones? People are more disposed to
help us if we are positive, and they dislike and avoid anyone
broadcasting negativity.
Negative thoughts, words and attitude bring up negative and
unhappy moods and actions. When the mind is negative,
poisons are released into the blood, which cause more
unhappiness and negativity. This is the way to failure,
frustration and disappointment.
Becoming a Positive Example to All
Being positive, doing the right things and thinking the right
things will produce the kind of behavior that is an example to
all. It will be an encouragement to those around you and an
example that they can follow. Watching your confident living
will help those with negative tendencies to change the way they
think. If it changes the course of their lives you have done a
great thing. Being careful of the things we say also will manifest
how we act. Our conversation should be complimentary and
uplifting.
Being tolerant of others is another advantage of being
confident. We will not always be treated in the manner that is
right. We are not responsible for the negative way that people
treat us, but we are responsible for how we react to it. A positive
person will realize that sometimes people are a product of their
environment. Maybe they didn’t have all of the advantages that
you did. The right thing to do is to act in a positive way.
It is always positive to think of others. Contributing in positive
ways leads to. an eternal happiness.
